Sizable Energy Reservoir Design Succeeds in Severe Stress Tests at EUMER
Sizable Energy has successfully completed a key testing campaign at the European Maritime Environmental Research Center (EUMER) of the University of Salento in Lecce, Italy.
The experimental campaign, performed in EUMER’s 30×30-meter 3D basin between July and September 2023, aimed to validate Sizable’s numerical simulations and assess the structural and hydrodynamic behavior of the floating reservoir under limiting sea-state conditions.
The tests confirmed the robustness and reliability of Sizable’s reservoir design. Even under severe wave stress, the structure maintained its stability with no overtopping observed, marking an important milestone in preparation for the next at-sea deployment phase.
“These results give us great confidence ahead of open-sea validation,” said Dr. Manuele Aufiero, CEO and Co-Founder of Sizable Energy. “They establish the reliability of our design, reinforcing the strong collaborative foundation for future deployment.”
Sizable extends its thanks to Prof. Agostino Lauria, Prof. Antonio Francone, and the EUMER team for their outstanding contribution and technical partnership throughout the testing phase.
